You Are the Only One to Forgive
You are the only one responsible for you.
You are the only one who can betray you.
You are the only one who can abandon you.
You are the only one who can leave you.
You are the only one who has ever broken your own heart.
How readily do we blame others and project our own power into their empty hands, when we are the only ones who have ever owed ourselves anything? We are the only ones we promised our lives to. We are the only ones guaranteed to be in this thing til the end.
If we soften our understanding that others are simply mirrors of our own light and wounding, how much more freedom might we feel to merge? Knowing that another cannot possibly steal or diminish the only thing that is actually ours?
Every relationship is simply here to help you illuminate your relationship with your Self, with God. What a better way to reveal the things we may be blind to, but to show them to us outside of us in the most confronting way?
True healing arises when we realize that it’s not even the other that we need to forgive. It is ourselves.
Fear may whisper, “what if they leave you?”
The heart asks, “do you promise to remain beside you?
Fear may whisper, “what if they stop loving you?”
The heart asks, “will you keep loving you?”
How might your devotion to your own Inner Beloved make you safe to open up your heart? In a world of unpredictable disappointments, your Love is the One to trust.
